GATTCA
I somehow think that we depend on advance of science and technology too much. The more we seek comfort in since, the less human we are. If we could fix junk DNA and make all of us valid human beings, it will be a huge mistake. We are all different equally and that brings us originality. I also love to think there is miracle that we will never be able to prove by science as Vince did with a life expectancy of 30.2 years olds with several diseases. Biological potential doesn't matter at all in order to achieve the goal. No matter how weak we might be born, there is still a greater chance to swim the ocean of victor.

There was a person who was a deaf and blind still fulfilled her life and made impossible possible. She became blind and deaf when she was little. Since then, her parents could not handle razing her that spoiled her. She was a left bird with damaged wings was never considered to fly ever again. Her lack of communication eventually almost lost an opportunity to experience or express to her social environments, until legendary guidance came to her life. After meeting Ann Sullivan changed her destiny. Immediately Ann started to lecture communication by spelling her hand and slowly but surely Helen improved and learned beauty of life. With all extreme disadvantages, she accomplished her schooling and inspired and helped many people who were disable. Her vision for her dream was never blind. It was as clear as the window Vincent wiped. That’s why she made impossible possible.

If Albert Einstein existed in the world of GATTACA, he would be nothing, but an invalid human being with aspersers syndrome dyslexia, learning disorder epilepsy and uncombed hair. We obviously know him as an intellectual genius. He received Nobel Prize in physics and brought many unique theories. Taking a look at only good side of Him did not realize how tough his life was. However, all disadvantages did not make him give up. He once quoted “It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer” which he knew there was not such a thing as genius people including him. People who we consider as genius have one thing in common that they have strong motivation and passion more than talented people. Albert Einstein proved that by his passion better than anybody in the intellectual world.
Although there will be definitely a benefit in genetically producing our babies such as disease-free , higher talents it still created problems in fragile utopia. As well know Anton and Jerome both were born with this aid of better genetic, but they both struggled with their pressure painfully. Anton always had to prove he was better than Vicente particularly their game called chicken. Having more stamina should’ve made him swim longer to win the game all the time as he expected. However, Vicente won the last game and that made Anton suffer emotionally. Jerome also could not take pressure of being the second best with his genetic. He once tried to commit suicide because of an expectancy of him that he always had to be the number one instead of the second best swimmer. Luckily he survived from his suicide with being paralyzed, but he became alcoholic and in the end he burned himself with a silver medal. Having better genetically designed babies did not create perfect happiness and even talented ones suffered as much as invalid.

There is something that we can calculate or prove by science. We do not have to limit your life because eyes of society or science even prove to us less talented. There have been so many human begins challenged their limited expectancy and won extraordinary goals. Talent are secondary. What we have to is not to put any doubt in our heart and not to give up. Someday miracle might come to our hands if we keep swimming once of our lives.

blog 9 hero
Being consider hero is easy, but it is difficult to be hero all the time. Lots of people once accept you as a hero they expect some heroic act from you. You cannot turn to be a bad guy after. I think to be a hero requires guts, kindness, selfishness, love and knowing of human beings’ weakness. I don’t consider firefighters or police officers as hero because they got paid to protect us and keep a safety. I think neither John Bubber nor Bernie Laplanet are hero, but they as a team make an inspiring hero.

Although Bernie is the one who committed heroic act, John Bubber has better qualities to be heroic image. It is important for a hero to have certain image. For example, there is no out of shape American comic hero typically because people do care about appearance. If you were a girl and you were about to be saved from some dangerous situation and you had a choice to make either handsome savior or mediocre savior, you would choose good looking one. That’s why I consider Bubber as a mask of hero. Peter parker would not be loved if he didn’t wear a spider-man suit. As you can see in the movie, Bubber is better-looking and have a better a reputation such as being a veteran from Vietnam War.Heo image is very important for audience.

Even Bernie laplanet saved the crashed airplane by his hands and his heart without shoes; he is still a con-man who wants to keep a low-profile. In the beginning of the movie, the lawyer of him who tries to convince him to do something good before the judgment such as seeing his only son, he nodded and pretended he was going to do well. Then, suddenly he stole money and credit cards from her pursue. She is the one try to protect him and she doesn’t deserve any of his bad behavior. He is just a lucky man in front of an accident. After saving people from an airplane, all his concern is a missing expensive shoe or how to squeeze money for his life. Deep down, he knows that he will not always be a hero for everybody and he doesn’t want to be the one. He can not be a hero unless he really changes his mind to live as a better person with more honesty. Saving one event doesn’t make him a hero because a hero devotes more.

The media makes a dirty- long haired homeless guy an angel who doesn’t want to fry the sky of the public love. I don’t think Bubber wants to be hero either. All he wants is a bed to sleep and some money in pocket, but the media treats him as if he were the next president. Bubber emotionally struggles with his guilt which is a heroic lie to everybody because he is a decent human being. I can not blame him for what he does. If I had a shoe to prove and to be able to get the much money for my poor life, I would do same thing. I always think the media tries to excite us twice more than what real event is. The media should be more realistic and bring truth rather than entertaining us.

Everybody loves a hero, but lots of people like to sit and watch because they love themselves to much that they can’t risk their lives. Once you are a hero, there is no turning back. In the end, I’d rather be Bernie than Bubber because he is not hero for everybody, but he is a hero to his son. That’s what I admire.

It is more difficult to choose the real truth than living in an illusion world. People do not to want to be alone in their society. Whether they like it or not, the society will feed an illusion and they have to eat it. If they don’t, others will think they are ignorant or crazy being honest. There have been so many evens that people have not awaken from the nightmare without noticing that they were having a night mare. The government shouldn’t allow people to use guns.
Guns are like a fast food of killing weapon. It is easy to use and powerful. If you want to kill a guy with a fist, you have to give him at least 300 punches. Human being is a tough to kill. However, this a glorious invention can kill a lot faster and better. The problem is this fast food chain killer is everywhere in the U. S. Guns come to your hands as if fast-food brings us a burger. It doesn’t take longer.
One of the main reasons people own guns is a protection. They think having a dangerous weapon will really protect them. Personally, the best way to protect is throwing the gun away and not being worried about others attack me. If people had a law in NYC which required everybody to carry guns for protections, they could have total chaos. They would shoot each other every single day. There is not necessary to have protection if we all put more smile to each other.

Having a strong tool like guns makes people more violence psychologically. If you have seen the movie spider man, you might remember that conversation between Peter and his uncle before uncle died. He said that “Great power comes great responsibility”. It is true, but people often can’t keep up their responsibility According to Phillip Zimbardeo‘s Stanford prison experimental, having better position or more power changed peoples’ mind frighteningly easily. He gathered volunteer students and separated two groups. One group was the prisoners and another group was police officers. He made the basement as a prison and started this crazy experiment for two weeks. It went wrong. The people who were police officers changed their character more violence day by day. They beat people who were prisoners so bad. Luckily, nobody died, but it was total chaos and all people lost control. This experiment was done by Nazi before. Even a person with an gel personality might change when he hold his gun. It is difficult not use it when you have the power because human being are fragile. Having a gun is never a good idea.
There have been so many mass shooting in the U.S., yet it is easy to get guns in this country. One of the saddest evens was columbine high school. Two high school students Eric and Dylan shot at high school. They killed more than your ten fingers and harmed innocent people. Eventually, they killed themselves. There was also mass shooting at Virginia Tech. This Korean student killed lots of student and he again killed himself, too. I hope someday, this country will learn from those tragic events.
It takes a lot of courage, energy and open mind to choose the truth. It is easier to be ignorant and pretend in an illusion world. No matter how sad people feel from tragic events, we still do same mistakes. I hope people can change in good way as much as time changes

Sadly, we don’t even recognize that we live in similar cave as the allegory of the cave. We are born with a chain of nationality, society, and all of stuff around us makes us who we are rather than who we can be. Generally, we all want to live in comfortable lives. I know Lots of singers sing about truth hurts. It is true. Everybody wants to be in same page and to be in same page, we sometimes have to omit certain truth. It is easier to live with illusion because that is what our society is. We are born in the cave and nobody wants to be free because free is a scary loneliness. However, those who get out the cave have brought us huge achievements in our history and I’d rather get out, too.

Great idea always starts with somebody’s stupidity. When you hear great ideas, we want to make one, too, but mostly we fear. One of my mentors told me once that failing is a scary thing, but succeeding is a way more scary than failing because success needs a change. Change is like the view the prisoner who escapes saw when he got out the cave. Lots of people complain about our society, yet they get used to living in one without changing. Great ideas only come to our mind only when we change to be better.

One of the great examples is Gandhi. He was a leader and pacifist. He brought a peace without violence. He freed India from England. His idea was very simple, yet very powerful movement in history. Instead of fighting back to the England, he used non-violence to against England. Honestly, it was crazy idea, but it killed fire with water. England gave up. Gandhi was the prisoner who escaped.

We are in the cave and without recognizing the huge chain around our legs. No matter how much you think you are free. In order to get out the cave, we have to have open mind and see the world and things from different perspective. We can challenge to claim the wall even people may laugh at us. People might call you crazy, but don’t worry about what other people think about us. Let’s get out.

follow up

Some people might have a difficulty of accepting me. To accept is not an easy thing to do. Peoples’ strength and weakness are getting used to something. Once you are used to something, it’d take a bit of time and open mind to embrace the other as new. One of my classmates told me once; she was surprised at my not having a Facebook account. She had this factional expiration
